Today was a divide and conquer kind of day. Wesley went to Alamogordo to get 1 inch metal electrical conduit to cut into our tent poles, lumber, some other parts, and best of all, an air mattress!! I stayed at camp to do laundry. We usually soak the day’s laundry overnight, and then wash it in the morning. It took until almost 1:30 before one sweatshirt and t-shirt unfroze so we’re going have to stop doing that for now. I got the last load of laundry on the line, started dinner, and was about half done when Wesley pulled up tonight. It was pretty good timing.
I talked to my friend Asenath today while I was taking a walk. They’re thinking about coming down to Arizona this winter so we talked about that for a while, how online school through the public school is nothing like the online homeschool program she’s used, and of course the puppy.
We went into town to take our usual showers tonight, and the HVAC has been turned on at the house. I set it to hold at 66 a few days ago and then the next day it was 62. I realized at that point that the thing was turned off and I’ve been watching it to make sure it doesn’t get too low but somebody else was there today who wanted a much warmer house than 60°. I could feel myself getting grumpy on the way home so I’m hoping we can still make that work because a hot shower before bed really is a gift. Yesterday instead of only staying in during the time of my shower, I was working on some other things as well Wesley was showering. We got back to the pasture and I almost had the gate clasped when I realized I was on the wrong side of it. I definitely have to spend very short amounts of time in the house.
Last night was a really tough night. It was really cold and I’ve decided that I can survive when it’s cold, but not on a cot by myself. I had a meltdown bc I was cold and had to get out of bed to pee. I declared that I was going to freeze to death bc being straight up drama fit the moment. So, we are back to a queen size air mattress so we can snuggle and keep each other warm. The hot water bottles at the foot of the bed proved to be incredibly awesome so we definitely kept those tonight. Tonight will probably get down into the lower 20s again. It was only supposed to get down to like 26 last night and it was 21 when Wesley looked at 7:00 this morning. It’s supposed to be in the teens tomorrow night and the night after. Thankfully it supposed to warm up a little bit again after that. Hopefully we can get the rock pad for our tent complete this week so that we can get the tent put up and air it out for a week before moving into it. Hopefully the heater will be in route soon. It was a good day. Hopefully tomorrow is tolerable bc it supposed to top out at 38° with a 15 to 25 mile an hour wind.
