We traveled Saturday through Tuesday to get to TX. We’re hoping this will be good enough to stay here awhile. We just signed up for a car wash subscription today. I figure we only need 2 car washes to easily pay off the monthly fee if we do need to leave sooner than a month. TX MT (mystery toxin) sticks more than FL MT so we’re going to have to be more diligent to wash the truck more often.
Today we came out to a state park just outside of town and it’s really quite lovely. I laid down on the picnic table under the shade structure and just listened to the many bird voices, cicadas, and grasshoppers. There were multiple signs that say to give the bison distance because they’re aggressive, but we haven’t seen any bison yet. This reminds me more of NM, but it’s quite a bit more humid here than NM, while being much less humid than FL. Let’s be honest, if it’s under 98% humidity in rainy season, you’re probably less humid than FL. We drove through lots of rain in the way here. We stayed the first night in northern FL, then in MS, a night in OK, and a short drive yesterday (only 6 hours) to TX. Quite a bit of our drive yesterday was actually in TX because we entered the “Great ??? State of Texas” pretty early in our drive yesterday. Let’s be honest long/short drive gets skewed when you’re crazily covering 10-12 hours each day. We didn’t stay in hotels with hot tubs while driving, but vinyl seats have a way of drawing the sweat out of you. I look like I’ve peed my pants and the back of my tank top is soaked I’m so sweaty. You’re welcome for that visual ?
