I must say adding sleeping bags to the blankets and sheets made for a MUCH nicer night’s sleep. This morning I woke up warm and was very unmotivated to get out of bed. The key once you’re up is to get moving. Collecting firewood is my exercise of choice. I hauled a bunch up to camp and Wes and I took turns chopping with our hatchet.
I got to talk with two very special ladies in my life this morning. It was a great spiritual discussion and it’s a blessing to see how God grows us through each other’s encouragement. We don’t have chairs and the buckets were in use for laundry, so I pulled some logs out to the trail while we chatted. After that, I walked out to the cliff and found this amazing sight.
After my talk with Susan and Sydney, I hauled a few more loads of firewood up to the camp site while I waited for Wesley to return from his walk to the bathroom about 10 min away. I took him down to see the cliff view. We spent quite a bit of time up there. I FaceTimed with my parents, which was cool to share that view with them too. If you want the video version, it’s on my FB as a live. We hauled some more wood up and then Wesley started working on lunch and I started working on laundry. I used every last inch of my line today.
After it was all hung, we went into town to fill up our water jugs again. We contemplated soaking in the hot springs, but I was really wanting to get back to camp so we didn’t end up with any unwanted campers close to us. While we‘re mold avoiding, having someone setup camp too close with moldy gear could ruin our spot. Being we’ve obnoxiously taken up what could easily be 3 spots, I wanted to have the car parked so no one pulled in that close.
Wesley made dinner and I started a fire. Being we have an abundance of chopped wood, I made a big one. Wesley said to me, that’s a hot fire. Yes babe, I was cold so that’s what I built plus we have enough wood I’m not allowed to pick up more just yet. While we were walking through the trees to the bathroom, I kept seeing all these trees that either started crooked and straightened up or were bent all the way over with branches growing up. The burdens in our lives help shape us, but God is bigger than all these things, uses them, and make us thrive if we’re willing to let Him heal our hearts.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:35-39
