I’m not very faithful at making these postS. So a lot has happened since I last posted. That rainy Monday afternoon turned into an early retreat to bed because it was cold and rainy. We went into the tent and snuggled up at 5:30 PM and it proceeded to rain and snow all over the laundry I had drying and everything else for the entire night. We woke up in the morning to about 3 inches of snow. The Darth Vader tent did it’s job and it kept us dry. Two people snuggling in bed with a lot of blankets at the job of keeping us warm.
It was only in the 20s at the highest point on Tuesday and it was cloudy so we didn’t really get out of bed. Wesley went out to use the restroom and took a couple photos for me in the morning and I got up to go to the bathroom and Wesley grabbed some food in the afternoon. That was the extent of getting out of bed for that entire day. We are just hunkered back down after getting out of the tent for a short bit, and it started to rain and snow again. It snowed all night and we woke up Wednesday morning with about another 2 to 3 inches of snow. Keep in mind this area doesn’t get snow very often so this was a really unusual storm in the first place but very very unusual and likely a record for the area for an October storm.
Wednesday the sun started to come out more and we decided to finally leave it at around 11 o’clock in the morning. We did manage to stay warm and dry for those cold, snowy 41 hours in bed, so praise God for that. Wednesday I started working on some laundry and then we went down to Alamogordo for prayer meeting and Bible study. Pictured below is 41 hour bed head and the beginnings of dreadlocks. It’sa good thing we got plugged into a church bc I comb my hair at least 1-2x/week this way.
Today it was sunny like it usually is so we got out of bed fairly early and it was surprising that even though it’s only 45° that you could run around in a T-shirt and leggings and become completely comfortable because the sun is so warm. Wesley made breakfast while I was doing laundry and then we hopped in the truck in the rental car and headed for Albuquerque. We ran a few errands and returned the rental car and then headed back down this way. It was a very full day, but we got a lot accomplished. We were able to vote today which was awesome because we weren’t sure if we’d be able to pull that off being we missed the deadline is for absentee in Iowa. We got home just as the sun was setting and I finished up the laundry, Wesley made dinner, we ate, I aired up air mattress, and fixed all the blankets and sheets that have been pretty disheveled the last couple days. That’s all for now. Apparently I’m really excited about the fact that I voted being you get two pictures of me with my I voted sticker. The truth is I can’t figure out how to delete one of them and I don’t want to try, so there you go. Good night!
You guys are amazing! So is this where you’re settling? I’m confused….do you still have a vehicle? How are you feeling?
We’d like to settle around here for winter, but we‘d like something more permanent than BLM land to get the more permanent setup of a canvas tent with a heater. Wes and I were talking about progress made last night. It’s going to be the subject of today’s post so stay tuned!
