We had nothing we needed to do for our day today, so we decided to do a perceiving trip today. I went to get water and Laura worked on breakfast. She fixed our normal vegetable and egg breakfast and added some ham the ranchers had given us. It was really good fixed that way.
For our trip today, we wanted to use a coupon for a half off shake at Sonic. The ranchers also had mentioned that they had some meat that would need to be picked up in Belen, if we went up that way. So we decided to go to Belen. We checked in to see if the meat was ready yet but the butcher was not answering the phone.
Since we were done with the morning work, we started on our way. We checked in while getting on to I-25, and the butcher still wasn’t answering the phone. There wasn’t anything else vital to do so we drove on to the butcher shop to ask in person. When we got there, we learned the order will not be ready till mid next week. That mission done, we headed toward Sonic.
As we were driving, we saw a water and ice vending station. Just before that, Laura asked me how I felt. I only felt a little off. We stopped and got water at the vending station. While working on that, we were both starting to be a little on edge.
After we got our water and stopped at Sonic for a shake and a Fritos Chili Cheese Wrap, which were both very tasty, we headed out of town. At this point, we were both feeling more off. Laura had an urgent feeling of needing to get out of town. Unfortunately the route the GPS sent us on was detoured for a special event. Continuing on our way, I messaged our mentor and asked about Belen. He said it always feels “icky” in Belen.
We stopped on the way home to decontaminate by washing our faces and blowing our noses. This helped a good bit, however we were still off when we got back to camp. Laura cleaned the truck while I did laundry. While cleaning the truck, Laura continued to feel bad from toxins she “popped” while cleaning. When she was done, the truck felt good to me. After we got showers and changed clothes, we both felt much better.
Our lazy day turned into quite the adventure, but we came out okay in the end.
