Today was a great day. There was nothing out of the ordinary, it was just good. The weather is a little bit warmer although the wind was still blowing really hard as usual for this area. We got laundry done, ate breakfast and dinner, got a PO Box, went to Family Dollar and got some stuff, took three walks while we were waiting for laundry to dry, and took showers. It was really a pretty uneventful day, but a lot got done and we didn’t get exposed any more toxins today. I could feel the cyanobacteria in the dust a little bit while we are walking, but that one just makes me yawn.
I decided for Advent I was going to read one chapter of each of the Gospels every day. Grace also has advent devotional is that I am reading each day. I have had the hardest time this year staying consistent reading my Bible, so I am loving this. Maybe if we get kindles for Christmas then we can start back into the chronological Bible for next year. I think we’re going to try to go to church in the morning, but we know that that very well may not work out of the church is moldy. We really liked the cowboy church that we went to in Alamogordo, but it’s at least an hour and 15 minute drive each way, and it’s really difficult to get all of our shopping done while we’re there and get back and be able to get laundry done before we go to bed.
Tonight I filled out an application to see if we qualify for an insurance plan on the marketplace. I’ve been using Christian Healthcare Ministry for about three years because I gave up on health insurance for myself along time ago. If we can find something cheaper than what we pay with CHM, we might take it to cut down on some costs being we haven’t got to the point where we have any income yet. Hopefully once we get moved into the big tent and have a heater, Wesley can start looking for some freelance jobs and change that. I had such a different view of how we would make money before we came down here. I definitely saw myself practicing, and didn’t think we’d be living in a pasture. I was thinking more like campgrounds with people (who all have a neck or back problem when they find out you’re a chiropractor), but God has a different plan and that’s OK.
Update on grandpa: He ended up in the ICU because his blood pressure got dangerously low, but he is doing a lot better now. If he stays on this trajectory the plan is for him to go to a rehab facility and get strong enough to go back home next week.
