Our mentor has been trying to sell us on disposable clothing for three months now. We’re finally in. I have a love/hate relationship with our ninja spin dryer. I can‘t imagine life without it, yet I have homical thoughts towards it every time I do laundry. That’s gotten better after we moved it to a different location, but with all the MT hits we’ve had, we’re killing the clothes and bedding. Like I washed 4 blankets, two sets of twin sheets, 3 towels, and four changes of clothes yesterday and we kept the sheets and one towel bc everything else was contaminated. So we’re going to wear clothes until they’re contaminated and then donate them.
In order to do this, we needed more blankets and clothes so we headed to Alamogordo to Walmart. We didn’t feel super down in Alamogordo today, but nothing crazy, so I thought. We went through the car wash and headed to Walmart. After we finished buying our things at Walmart, we headed to the truck. We tried something new that we won’t try again anytime soon, not hauling everything home in totes. We got everything loaded up and I got in the truck. I was having a really hard time reading my phone bc I had quite the kalidoscope of visual aura. I’d been through this with ocular migraines before so by the time Wesley got back to the truck, I’d already hopped out of the truck to decontaminate, but it didn’t help. I was still getting major visual aura and losing my peripheral vision in the left visual field. We got our water refills at the water vending machine and headed to Sonic for the shake I was talked into while we were at Walmart. My vision got more normal thankfully. Perhaps hot fudge, peanut butter shakes are the answer… just kidding. We headed home and between the next two towns north of Alamogordo, my vision went wonky again. As we went further north, Wesley informed me he was feeling better so I told him I wanted to so and decontaminate at the next pull off to see if I could get my vision back more. We stopped at Three Rivers to decontaminate and use the bathroom. After that, my vision came back in, and I had a headache and fatigue. Apparently Wesley had his panicky feeling in Alamogordo, but didn’t say anything. It’s super common as adults to justify symptoms or try to talk ourselves out of it. We had a discussion about how bc he’s better at sensing MT (mystery toxin), I need help to learn it bc getting slam after slam from MT has been unpleasant at best. We should’ve turned around and abandoned the trip at first inclination of MT bc of the past couple weeks. That’s the plan if this happens again in the near future.
Because we got hit with MT, we were unsure if we’d be able salvage any of the bedding or clothing in the truck. We went back to the ranch and realized we forgot towels for pillows so I suggested going to a hotel so we’d have access to shower as much as we wanted and pillows and bedding. I was concerned that I might end up just taking another MT hit though bc our mentor said ABQ was worse than expected where we usually stay on Thursday. As I explained things to Angela, it became apparent to me that staying at the ranch would be the better choice. Wesley got a tote of clothes and bagged all of the new stuff up in trash bags while Angela and I were chatting via FB messenger. Sometime you just need to explain your situation to be able to see the answer. All three of us were in agreement of the next step. We went to the house we shower at and team cleaned our truck and everything in it. Next we needed to sweat to get these toxins out. When Wesley was in his funk I tried to get him to race me, people I’m telling you if you’re over 5, it’s almost a guaranteed win, but he wouldn’t. We raced around Carrizozo tonight laughing at how slow and winded I was. Dang! I’ve run the Bix twice, but not since 2004, and that’s 7 miles of hills. We got sweaty and headed back to the house for showers. After that, we got diesel and came back to the ranch, and I was really grateful for the huge can of chili I keep on hand for moments like this. Folks, we had the dinner of champions: chili and fruity pebbles (not together). We’re both feeling better and recovering faster than the prior MT hits bc we did the exercise bit this time. We cleaned the truck, walked, showered and changed clothes the last time too, but walking isn’t enough. Tomorrow we’ll have to determine if we need to go back to Alamogordo to exchange everything or if we can keep it. It has to be good bc we’re not washing laundry right now and it needs to be able to be worn right away. I’d be shocked if we don’t kill our bed clothes and bedding tonight, but maybe our decon process tonight will make the clothing massacre less. Running would be worth that, and I’d no longer qualify for the T-shirt that says if I’m running, you should too. ?
Let me tell you, I TOTALLY get the disposable clothing thing. I have tried washing contaminated clothes – and tried and tried. It can’t be done. Nothing gets it out once it’s in. God bless you guys! I’m so glad your in it together! May you turn to Him who loves you and has made you and continues to make you for His good pleasure and find rest. With Love, Susan
Thanks Susan! The tough part for us is we’re also detoxing so we kill stuff just having it on or sleeping in it. I hope all is well with you and John! If you have time this week give me a call. It would be great to hear your voice again!
You are both so brave to tackle this journey together! I am so glad God led you to each other!
Me too. God gave me a guy with amazing character who was willing to make a HUGE sacrifice to see me get better! This has been hard, but he’s teaching us lots about him and ourselves through this.
